WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VA AND REMOTE EA?

While Virtual Assistants VA is independent professionals who provide their services to a business, Executive Assistants provide their professional services to a high-level manager, managing the schedules and communications of key executives in their company.

Hi rockstars! How is everything going?

I have still a couple of projects to work on these days and time is running very fast, the stress started to hit and you get that feeling when your heart stops for a moment when you realize you are one day before the deadline…. so I thought I should look for something to motivate me to stay focused to reach the goal, following the action plan I have created for the current week.

But even though I know I’ll achieve the goal I needed something else, like motivation, like a big scoop of ice cream…. Okay, no that wouldn’t work… like an inspirational song, yes! That’s what I needed.

I searched in my list and found that song that says

“It’s the thrill of the fight

Rising up to the challenge of our rival

And the last known survivor

Stalks his prey in the night

And he’s watching us all with the eye…”

I swear I almost can listen to you singing… ♫♬ of the

tiger ♫♬

I started to think how important is for us, Executive Assistants, to have these elements we can use to make us feel like that rockstar that is walking down the street powerful and confident to tackle any challenge. And that makes me understand Michael Hyatt when he said “Few people are more responsible for your success than your assistant. Find a rockstar”

That’s because a great Executive Assistant tackles the important challenges of the Client’s business and provides the best support to him, even anticipating possible issues, etc.

But is it the same to be a Virtual Assistant as an Executive Assistant? What are the differences if any? Would it be OK if I say one is a Popstar and the other one a Rockstart?…please don’t hate me I like both of them… I am actually into K-Pop now

Awwww…ok, Oook, back to reality…

Let’s play that song again and join me on this trip, please….

Why is important to hire a Virtual Assistant?

If you are an entrepreneur who is questioning if you actually need to hire a virtual assistant we recommend you to read a recent study made by TAB

Average Daily work time spent by entrepreneur

Within that surprising 68 percent include time-consuming administrative tasks such as scheduling, travel arrangements, contracts signing, email management, etc. These types of tasks are fully delegable, and although they are very important tasks, if are managed by a very skilled person you will have free time to spend on more strategic tasks that will ensure the growth of your business effectively.

Just in case you haven’t read this great post we made a while ago I will leave this link right here for you to learn more about Delegating and how important it is for effective leadership.

STAT also provided more information in regard to the amount of overtime spent by entrepreneurs just in email management. 84% of business owners spend 25% of their time on that monotonous task. You can have access to this great article here “84% of Entrepreneurs Are Working Overtime, Here’s Why”

So definitely yes, if you want to be more productive and grow your business effectively you should definitely hire a Virtual Assistant.

Now, is it the same to have a Virtual Assistant as a Remote Executive Assistant?

What’s the difference between a Virtual Assistant and an Executive Assistant?

Sometimes we get confused between these two terms. I have heard some executives struggling to know how to introduce their assistants, as they don’t know precisely what the difference is they just use the short -but easy to understand- word: «Assistant». The reality is that there is a big difference.

While doing my research and learning about this topic I found an interesting article posted by Super Powers, they define the VA as someone who plays an important role in the business but it can’t replace the impact of rockstar Remote EA.

That’s because the Remote EA plays the right hand of the Executive, he knows the business goals and understands the Executive decisions and plans, helps to create processes, and evaluates their effectiveness, the EA is a leader who helps the Executive grow his business fastest and efficiently.

The VA is in charge to cover those monotonous but important tasks and adhere to the established process reliably and consistently, they have the practical skills to do the job and play a key role in the communication channel and feedback from the customers.

So both are essential roles but to truly gain freedom as a business owner you need to count on an EA with that level of business ownership, understanding your plans of views and decision making.

If you are an entrepreneur that is struggling to grow your business, and you already have a Virtual Assistant, you should start creating an action plan which will develop your VA to the next level. Involve your VA in decision-making, create a delegation plan, assign your VA important task, and provide feedback.

If you are a business owner who is not sure if you need a Virtual Assistant and/or Executive Assistant please take a look at these two links: What does a Virtual Assistant do? & Are you ready for the New Year’s resolutions for your business?

You must have a clear understanding of your business plan and vision first and then you should look for a skilled, talented, and passionate Remote Executive Assistant.

Now we are in the stage again huh, we know what it is, we know the importance of it but we need to know how… I gotcha, please keep reading.

Remember,

Both styles of music are necessary, both are unique and essential but you will select the type of music you want to play depending on your needs (for example, I think I’m going to play RUN by BTS now). It is exactly the same between VA or Remote EA, if you just need someone to delegate those important but monotonous tasks you can hire a VA; but if you need to grow your business, and achieve the freedom you have dreamed of for yourself, at the same time your business is running then you need a Remote Executive Assistant.

It has been such an amazing journey writing about this topic, it has helped me to better understand and appreciate what others do for me and what I do for others. Thankfulness is such an important value to keep in mind.

See you soon!
